Aggies Stand United in the Wake of National Crises
Aggieland 2002, 28
Through apparel, Aggies expressed unity after the attacks on the World Trade Center twin towers in New York City on September 11, 2001. During the game against Oklahoma State both current and former students along with some Oklahoma State fans wore Red White and Blue. During this game attire became an outward expression of unity. Rather than showing out in school colors, members of both fan bases wore their nation’s colors.

The 2002 yearbook contains insight into how a national event affected campus life. Hundreds of students came out to the Memorial Student Center (MSC) to watch the traumatic events of 9/11 unfold as classes were canceled. Even two weeks after the attacks the American flag remained half staffed.
